Experienced Estimator

LGL Inc. is seeking an Intermediate / Senior Piping and Mechanical estimator with Industrial project experience. This is a full-time position based out of the LGL Inc. office located in Bartow, FL.
LGL Inc. is an industrial fabricator and contractor self-performing, Piping, Structural Steel, Sheetmetal, Millwrighting, Tanks and Vessels, Electrical and Instrumentation work. We have offices in Long Sault Ontario, Syracuse NY, Bartow FL and perform work throughout Canada and the continental USA.
Description of Position:
Responsible for estimating the costs of a project or scope of Work that is associated with the Piping and / or Mechanical discipline including incorporating pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, and quantifying changes in scope.
- Estimating costs for fabrication and construction by studying plans and specifications and doing accurate quantity take-offs.
- Apply appropriate productivity rates and factors for the work and site conditions.
- Prepare bid documents that meet the requirements of the Laframboise Group and the client’s RFP.
- Ensure the bid is prepared according to the RFP requirements, and it is complete and accurate.
- Develop and apply appropriate hourly rates for the schedule and work hours / shifts of the project.
- Evaluate and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing to determine the best value proposal.
- Review the project specific documents, site conditions to understand the Work.
- Solicit input from the proposal team regarding the procurement and construction strategy with a focus on constructability, efficiency, and safety.
- Perform bid to construct comparisons to quantify changes to the scope.
- Experience with relevant standards, codes and industry practices.
- Ensure Health & Safety Policies and provincial health and safety regulations are understood and followed.
- Provide project status updates and reports.
- Apply current estimating standards and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Travel to project sites as required.
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years experience estimating work specific to the discipline for industrial projects $5MM+.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage concurrent proposals and projects.
- Proficient at analyzing, managing, and administering contract documentation.
- Excellent analytical skills and with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bi-Lingual in Spanish a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office, Excel, SharePoint and estimating software.
- Engineering or Technical degree in relevant field preferred.
Salary and Benefits
- Competitive salary, commensurate with experience: (Range $35/hr to $55/hr)
