Mechanical Designer

MECHANICAL DESIGNER

  

The LAFRAMBOISE GROUP is seeking a Mechanical Designer with Industrial project experience.  This is a full-time position based out of Laframboise Group’s corporate office located in Long Sault (Cornwall) Ontario.

Description of Position: Responsible for supporting design and workflow development across various projects within the Mechanical Engineering and Fabrication team.

  • Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to develop designs, processes, and workflows.
  • Assist in designing and leading in-house projects.
  • Create SolidWorks models and detailed fabrication drawings for tanks and vessels.
  • Use nesting software to prepare sheets and plate patterns for CNC plasma cutting.
  • Use software to determine thicknesses of shell material of pressure vessels
  • Support quantity take-offs and project estimating.
  • Help create and modify piping isometric drawings.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide engineering support and ensure smooth integration of design efforts.
  • Assist in layout, design, and evaluation of equipment, including checking drawings and related documents.
  • Work in a facility equipped with advanced equipment, tools and systems.
  • Contribute to a growing team of skilled professionals.
  • Follow Health & Safety Policies and provincial regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 Skills & Experience

  • Graduate of Mechanical Engineering Technologist program. Mechanical Design Degree with objective of getting the C.E.T. designation from OACETT.
  • Mechanical Design and CAD Experience through CO-OP placements, personal projects and or summer employment: (AutoCAD as a minimum, SolidWorks preferred)
  • Familiar with reading and producing various types of drawings; design sketches, fabrication details, piping isometrics.

 Salary and Benefits

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience: (Range $24/hr. to $27/hr.) performance review following initial 90-day work period.
